Let’s talk black sesame seeds. Do they taste like white sesame seeds? Short answer-no. They have a deep, rich, nutty bold flavour, less subtle than white. In fact, sesame seeds grow in many different colours, including black, brown, gray, tan, yellow and white. Black sesame seeds are definitely worth eating and enjoying. I like a whole range of flavours-from sweet to bitter and our bodies do too. Black sesame seeds also happen to be packed with maconutrients such as calcium and magnesium. Black sesame seeds have been shown to benefit heart and bone health, even containing blood pressure lowering abilities.

This mylk will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days, so pour it on your cereal or granola or enjoy it in latte.
This recipe is formatted for my Nutr machine (use my code KP10 for a discount on your purchase at thenutr.com, However, if you do not own a Nutr machine or wish to make a large quantity of this mylk using your blender here’s the ratio I would use: For 4 cups (1 litre) of mylk use- 1/2 raw black sesame seeds to 4 cups filtered water, add 4 pitted dates or about 2-3 tbsp of liquid sweetener of your choice, 1/4 tsp sea salt, 1 tsp vanilla. Whir in your blender for at 1-2 minutes, or until smooth and frothy. Strain and squeeze through a nut milk bag (I recommend Ellie’s Best nut milk bag-code rocksanddirt for 10% off your order) or use cheesecloth.

Add all of the ingredients to your Nutr machine (see intro of this recipe if using a blender) and press “room temp” function. Once milk is ready, strain into a jar and store in fridge for up to 3 days.
