Sprouted Oat Milk

Yields1 ServingPrep Time5 minsTotal Time5 mins

For those who have trouble digesting grains, sometimes sprouted grains make a difference in being able to digest them. If that is the case with you, try this easy, delicious and economical dairy free milk. I find the best and most efficient way to get the milk out of the oats is to pour and filter through a nut milk bag. I have used my Ellie's Best nut milk bag for almost 2 years now and it's still going strong. Go to and enter code "rocksanddirt" to get 10 % off your total purchase.

1 cup sprouted organic old fashioned/thick oats (not quick oats)
 4 cups filtered water
3 dates, soaked in hot water for 5 minutes then pitted
 ¼ tsp sea salt
 1 tsp vanilla extract

Cover the oats with water and soak for about 4 hours. Drain oats and place them in a high powered blender along with the rest of the ingredients. Blend in the blender for at least 2 minutes or until smooth and frothy.

Pour into a nut milk bag ( I use Ellie's Best brand) and tie off the top of the bag to prevent leaking. Over a bowl ( I usually do this in the sink) use a gentle kneading motion to squeeze the milk out through the nut milk bag until you have extracted as much of the milk as possible .

Pour into a glass container and seal with a lid. Store for up to 3 days and shake vigorously before serving.
