Lavender Citrus Smoothie

Yields2 ServingsPrep Time5 minsCook Time2 minsTotal Time7 mins

Living on an island in the Pacific Northwest, we are surrounded by lavender farms. This was inspired by one of our local lavender farms. Lavender is known for its endless healing properties including anxiety, insomnia and minor burns or bug bites. It has always been one of my favourite plants and scents. It is important in this smoothie to use Culinary grade lavender, not just lavender you pick from your garden. Refreshing and calming, it is perfect on a hot summers day.

1 cup plain unsweetened cashew milk yogurt or non dairy yogurt/Greek yogurt of your choice
¾ tsp whole dried clinary lavender budsI use Whidbey Island “Lavender Wind” culinary lavender
zest from 1 organic lemonMicroplane grater works best for zesting
 2 tbsp lemon juice
zest from 1-2 limesorganic citrus, if possible
 2 tbsp lime juice
 ¼ tsp ground turmeric
 1-2 tbsp raw local honey
½ inch piece peeled fresh ginger root, cut in half
2 tbsp plain unsweetened collagen powder or marine collagen
 ¾ cup ice cubes

Place all of the ingredients in a high powered blender for 2 minutes or so or until smooth. Enjoy as a morning smoothie or a cool snack on a hot summers day.
