Blackberry Cacao Smoothie (Paleo, Dairy Free)

I first test made this smoothie recipe on a recent camping trip. My 11 year old sous chef gave it a thumbs up so I knew I had a winner. Blackberries grow prolifically everywhere in the Pacific Northwest and smoothies are another simple way to make use of these Vitamin C, naturally low glycemic and fiber packed fruit. The combination of blackberries, cacao and greens not only tastes great together but it will give you energy to start your day. Not only that but it will get your gut headed in the right direction for the day.

 1 ½ cups fresh or frozen blackberries or blueberries or a mixture of both
 1 ¼ cups non dairy milk (unsweetened)
 1 ½ tbsp cacao powder
 2 tbsp date syrup or maple syrup or 4 soaked dried dates
 2 large handfuls fresh spinach or 1/3 of a 10 ounce (283 gr ) package frozen spinach
 2 1/2 inch (2.5cm) pieces fresh ginger root
 2 scoops plain collagen powder
 1 scoop pro-biotic powder
 toppings of your choice: i.e hemp hearts, coconut flakes, granola, cacao nibs

Place all of the ingredients in a high powered blender and blend for at least 2 minutes or until smooth. Pour into 2 glass mason jars. Enjoy or cover one and place one in the fridge for the next day
