Apples and early fall are simply inseparable and I think for most of us the smell of baking apples and cinnamon wafting from the kitchen is one of the best things about fall. That being said, there is only so much baking that one can and wants to do with apples. I love incorporating seasonal fruit into my smoothies and this recipe is no exception. The sweetness of the smoothie will depend on the sweetness of the apples you use. I used Gravenstein apples from our friends trees. Gravenstein apples are typically a baking apple and are quite tart, however like a little tart flavour in my smoothies. I really liked how it tasted with the lime, tart on tart but the end result was really nice and still naturally sweet. Because the peel is left on the apple it retains all the dietary fibre and polyphenols, an antioxidant that helps protect our skin from ultraviolet radiation. So between the collagen powder, hemp hearts and antioxidants your skin will love this smoothie!
